Panchavati is associated with all the events related to Mata Sita's abduction by Ravana. This is also the place, where Mareecha deceived Mata Sita by transforming into a golden deer and by doing so, helped Ravana in his attempt to abduct Mata Sita. And to teach her a lesson, Lakshman cut her nose with his sword. However, when she attempted to harm Mata Sita, Shri Rama asked Lakshman to give a fitting reply to Soorpnakha. She was jealous of Mata Sita and wanted to eliminate her. Subsequently, she tried to coax Lakshman and failed miserably. She strived to lure him, but her efforts went in vain. And soon after laying her eyes on him, she fell in love. ![]() It is here, where demon-king Ravana's sister Soorpnakha saw Shri Rama for the first time. This is the place were Lakshman, the younger brother of Shri Rama, cut Soorpnakha's nose.
